 The I Ching (中国: 易经; 拼音: Yìjīng), also known as the Classic of Changes or Book of Changes in English, is an ancient divination text and the oldest among the Chinese classics. Originally a divination manual during the Western Zhou period, it evolved into a cosmological text with philosophical commentaries known as the "Ten Wings" during the Warring States and early imperial period. Incorporating it as one of the Five Classics in the 2nd century BC, the I Ching has been subjected to scholarly commentary and has served as a basis for divination practice for centuries throughout the Far East.
